Uganda Prisons Service announces major reshuffle

The Uganda Prisons Service has announced a significant reshuffle involving appointments, transfers, and leave of officers across various regions and facilities.

The changes, announced by Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija, are effective immediately.

Key appointments include Ms. Prossy Geraldine Najjuma, promoted to Acting Senior Commissioner of Prisons in Charge of Industries, and Ms. Stella Nabunya, who moves from the Kampala Extra Region to head Health Services at the Prisons Headquarters.

Mr. Fred Kajubi Kayongo returns from long leave to assume the role of Acting Commissioner of Prisons in Charge of Education Services.

Significant regional transfers involve Mr. Ronald Godie, moving from the Eastern Region to the Mid-Western Region, Masindi, and Mr. Joseph Semate Karubanga, transferring from the Central Region to the Department of Legal Advisory & Human Rights at the Prisons Headquarters.

New district-level appointments include Ms. Catherine Okware as District Prisons Commander (DPC) for Mayuge District and Mr. Moses Ben Kuboi for Wakiso District.

These moves are intended to streamline operations and enhance efficiency within the Uganda Prisons Service.

All officers are expected to complete their handover and takeover processes by June 27, 2024. The Director of Administration has been tasked with facilitating these movements, ensuring a smooth transition
